Just hours after taking the Oath of Office to become Ohio’s 69th chief executive, Governor John Kasich followed through on a campaign pledge to create the Common Sense Initiative to address unnecessary and duplicative regulations for small businesses. Using his first executive order, Kasich authorized Lt. Governor Mary Taylor, who will also serve as the director of the state department of insurance, to begin a comprehensive review of all regulatory policy and address those parts that hinder business growth and job creation by being unnecessarily burdonsome.
The Ohio House of Representatives introduced their first pieces of legislation for the 129th General Assembly on January 11, 2011. Among the pieces of legislation introduced was House Bill 1, the bill that will be used to overhaul the Ohio Department of Development and create the public/private JobsOhio board.
